Hydro Electric Power Plant

     Hydro Electric Generators are generators that utilizes the potential energy of the water into usable, efficient source of energy the Electricity. In the assumption that we will neglect all losses for simpler understanding. Total Energy input is equal to the total Energy output.

        Base on the ideal equation, the power output of the Hydroelectric Generator is directly proportional to the elevation. The higher the elevation the greater power is produced.Hydro Electric Generator uses water turbine to absorb the energy from the water and transforms it into mechanical energy and into electrical energy. Some of the common construction of water turbines use in Hydro Electric Generator. As the water from higher elevation flows to the water turbines, the water pushes the blades of the water turbines thus forcing it to rotate. Remember also that the higher the elevation of the water source the greater the is produced. Have you try to get under a water fall?, you will notice that as the water fall becomes higher the greater the pressure it produce as it hits your head. Take note that if you are to test for real, make sure that the water fall is short to prevent accident. Multiple blades of the water turbines also enhances its capabilities to absorb energy, the more the blades the greater the power.

        One of the major sources or electricity in the Philippines is the Agus Hydroelectric Power Plant, which consist of 7 Hydro Electric Plant. The water that flows into first hydroelectric plant is the same water that flows into the last plant. All the Agus Hydro Electric Plant is connected in series to absorb all the renewable energy from the water. This is possible because the first plant is connected mainly in LANAO LAKE PHILPPINES which is lacated far above sea level, or we can say that a lake in the mountains. The picture below shows the source of water in one of the Agus Hydroelectric Plant (storage) and the other is where the turbine is located.
